How
Does Food Affect Mood
Food and drink is what gives us our necessary fuel for
life, but as we are all individually made up, we therefore
have different levels of tolerance and requirements
to certain food and drink. This is part of what makes
us unique. Whilst this is true,
we should be aware that there are some basic reactions
our bodies have to foods and the elements within foods;
please note the terms foods includes drink as well.

An Example:
Sugar based foods can give us a short term boost in
energy, an understanding often followed by footballers,
but at the same time as soon as we withdraw from the
high intake if it is too sudden the body can get withdrawal
symptoms leading to nausea, headaches and anxiety.
A continual high intake of sugar can cause teeth decay
and affect your kidneys or liver and other body organs.
Poem
Think of what you're always drinking
and the quality of your minds’ thinking.
Caffeine helps gets the brain into gear,
but too much can make the brain disappear.
Avoid excess tea, coffee and fizzy cola,
keep the brain fresh with plenty of water. |
Draw
a Food and Mood Picture of you
A good way to understand more about you and the food
and drink you consume when your body and mind is in
certain moods, is to draw a picture. Below is an example
of what it may look like, but remember no-one person
is the same and do not be scared to be truthful to
yourself.
